In 1965, a group of retired men approached the director of the West Hartford YMCA to see if they could work together to form an organization for retired men. The YMCA then had a facility that would seat a large group for meetings and the group, The Old Guard, was formed with its first meeting the next year.
Since then the Old Guard has continued as a place for retired men to socialize, learn from invited speakers and contribute to the community in many various ways. The West Hartford YMCA continues to provide administrative support as the Old Guard has continued its primary objectives of service and fellowship.

Many YMCA members primarily visit one YMCA branch. Setting your home branch customizes your experience with schedules and programs for that branch. You are still able to view information for all other branches.
You can change your home branch at any time by using the branch link at the top of the website.
