Power Scholars Academy at the Y 
BELL (Building Educated Leaders for Life) and the YMCA have worked together for many years now to eliminate the summer opportunity gap, accelerate students’ academic achievement, and close the achievement gap.

Every summer, Hartford-area students become Power Scholars—gaining skills, confidence, and experiences that set them up for success in school and beyond.

What Scholars Do
•    Daily Learning: 3 hours of math & literacy, led by certified teachers
•    Enrichment: 1.5 hours of art, drama, STEM, music, fitness & more
•    Weekly Experiences: Field trips & workshops with community leaders

Why It Matters
•    +1.5 months in reading and +2 months in math gained each summer
•    Builds confidence, friendships, and healthy habits
•    Increases family involvement and school readiness
  
Who We Serve 
Scholars come from Hartford, East Hartford, West Hartford, Wethersfield, and Vernon. Enrollment prioritizes students who need extra support and would otherwise miss out on high-quality summer learning.
